Bankview is a residential neighbourhood in the South-West quadrant of the city of Calgary. The neighbourhood is bordered by 17th Avenue SW on the north, 26th Avenue SW on the south, 14th Street SW on the east and 19th Street SW on the west. This neighbourhood, located south-west of the high density Beltline district of the inner city, is one of Calgary’s oldest communities. The borough offers panoramic views of Calgary’s downtown, and is within minutes to shopping on 17th avenue. There is a tennis court in the area and a public school nearby. Condo dwellers here have the best of everything at their fingertips. A 7-minute walk (or less) to 17th avenue, where you’ll find everything from retail stores to packed pubs with the after work crowd. Just south of Bankview is the revitalized Marda Loop business district that seems to have a new business pop up every day! Grocery shopping, bus routes and downtown are all nearby, so for those who do not drive, Bankview is a great place to call home.
In regard to community, the Bankview community association offers a number of recreational opportunities to residents. The association recently built a basketball court and playground, and are working on establishing a green space for resident use. Bankview’s rich history is explored in its annual September Heritage Day celebration, where community walks touring historic homes are offered. Bankview is close to a great public library, an out door pool, and a newly renovated historic school that has been convered into Calgary’s first bustling multi-use arts building.
